Department of Economics Mourns the Passing of One of its most Distinguished Alumni, Thomas F. Cooley

It is with sadness that the Department of Economics notes the passing of one its most distinguished alumni, Thomas F. Cooley. Tom taught at Penn in the mid-1990’s where he inspired a large cohort of macro students that went on to become leaders of the profession themselves.

Professor Emeritus Kenneth Wolpin is the 2021 recipient of the Jacob Mincer Award

Professor Kenneth I. Wolpin,  who spent 20 years at Penn as the Annenberg Professor of Social Sciences and is now Professor Emeritus in the economics department, is the 2021 recipient of the prestigious Jacob Mincer Award for lifetime contributions to the field of labor economics.

Economics Faculty Anne Duchene Won Dean's Teaching Award

Anne Duchene, the Director of the Microeconomic Principles Program in the Department of Economics, won the Dean's Award for Distinguished Teaching by Affiliated Faculty. This award is presented annually in recognition of the contribution to undergraduate education made by the School's adjunct professors and lecturers.
