Lars-Hendrik Röller

Lars-Hendrik Röller is Germany's chief economic adviser. In July 2011 Chancellor Merkel appointed Röller as Director General of the Economic and Financial Policy Division of the government. He is currently on leave from his position as President of the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) which he has held since 2006.

He is currently on leave from his position as President of the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) which he has held since 2006. He is a full professor there, a research professor at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin (WZB), Europe’s largest social science research center, and a professor at Humboldt University.

A 1987 graduate of the Ph. D. program here at the Department of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, his doctoral dissertation was "Essays in the Theory and Application of Contestable Markets."
